Snow Blizzard and Santa Clause

On Saturday our ward had a breakfast and the kids were able to meet Santa Clause! Katelyn and Kylie ran up to him and had fun talking to him.

So this week Des Moines had the biggest blizzard in December in 100 years. And we just happened to be here this year. On Monday it snowed a little bit. The girls were so excited so we went out and played it in for a little while. Katelyn's face shows how excited she was.

The next day it snowed a ton more and Des Moines University let there school out early so the students could make it home. When Dad got home took the girls out to play and again they had so much fun.

Tuesday night the wind started to blow and by Wednesday it was a complete blizzard. Troy's school was closed down along with every other place in Des Moines. When you looked outside all you could see was white. Everyone here at our apartments were completely snowed in. All the cars were covered with so much snow and even if you dug your car out, the parking lot and roads were so deep with snow there was no way to drive. The snow plows didn't even come out to plow because it would have been covered again and plus they couldn't see. By Wednesday night the blizzard finally stopped. There was huge drifts of snow everywhere. Troy went out to dig our cars out and it took a couple days for our apartment complex to be plowed out. It was nice that we didn't have to go anywhere and that Troy got to stay home that day!

We must have been hit by the same storm system. We're about 3 1/2 hours north of you guys and wow-wee did we get some snow this past week!

We were snowed in too and all schools, public and the University were canceled.

Luckily I didn't have to work so it didn't matter that my car was trapped in the driveway by a 5 foot drift.

Midwest winters are fun! Snow + wind + humidity. Yay!
